Founded in 1992 by Alain Gutharc and his associate Avelino Abarca, Galerie Alain Gutharc moved to rue Saint-Claude in Paris’ Marais district in 2006. The gallery discovers and supports artists through regular monographic exhibitions, presentations at art fairs and assistance with institutional exhibitions.

Its approach is grounded in the conviction that an artistic practice develops over years and cannot be reduced to passing trends. Long-term support is therefore central to its understanding of the gallery’s role, contributing to a diversity of artistic propositions and perspectives on the contemporary world.

The gallery continues to discover young artists, often providing opportunities for their first exhibitions and bringing their work into dialogue with that of artists recognised for the quality of their artistic thinking. While art fairs have become increasingly important within the art world, the gallery remains a place where collectors and visitors can exchange impressions and encounter works at a pace that allows for discovery.

Since 1999, Galerie Alain Gutharc has also developed a design programme alongside its presentation of visual artists. Through monographic and thematic exhibitions, it explores the connections and distinctions between art and design, approaching them as complementary forms of expression that broaden reflection on the world.
