Founded in 2015 by siblings Pascaline and Guillaume Smets, Stems Gallery is based in Brussels and Paris. It presents emerging artists, with a particular focus on introducing contemporary American artists to European audiences.

Its programme spans painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, video and installation. Guided by intuition and curiosity rather than fixed criteria, each exhibition develops through close collaboration with the artist or curator, allowing individual creative visions to shape the presentation.

The gallery connects its artists with the energy of the Belgian art scene while supporting their international recognition through participation in major art fairs.

In October 2020, Stems Gallery moved to a historic building in central Brussels, occupying the former canteen of the Solvay laboratories. It subsequently opened a Paris space at 11 rue Pastourelle in the Marais, inaugurated with Tear A Part, Torn A Part, a solo exhibition by French-American artist Pharaoh Kakudji.
