Constellations Gallery
B28 ●Constellations Gallery presents contemporary art and sculptural works by artists and craftspeople from Southern Africa and elsewhere. Rooted in a passion for handwork and craftsmanship, its mission is to reveal and celebrate practices that connect ancestral techniques, creative expression and emotional experience.
The gallery selects and develops works in close collaboration with artists and master craftspeople. These collaborations bring their respective visions into dialogue while maintaining high standards of production. The resulting pieces convey the stories of their makers through texture, scent and distinctive design, inviting an experience that extends beyond looking to engage the senses.
Alongside its curatorial activity, Constellations Gallery supports communities of craftspeople who share its commitment to quality. It organises workshops, exhibitions and events to present their work and strengthen their recognition. The creative process is approached as an expression of care and personal investment, and, for women within these communities, can also provide a space of peace.
The gallery’s mission includes a social commitment to the recognition and livelihoods of master craftspeople, particularly in South Africa, where their work is often undervalued. Through collaboration and promotion, it seeks to help artists and craftspeople sustain their practices and receive greater recognition for their work.
